We had to learn to be resourceful and used my nail files to sand the edges down and then stained it with a sock and a plastic bag on the inside.
Tada !! Problem solved you would never know there was a grill under that. Plus its cute as a button and fun to make except now I am itching to stain something else :)

don't i love painting/staining in an apartment. i worry the whole time that I'm going to trip and knock the whole can over and COMPLETELY ruin the carpet or just leave drips everywhere. Either way....space is good for the soul. I feel your pain. (well not so much anymore!) love you
